I believe in the bible and, of course, God and Jesus… but do I really trust the modern church?

I am not so sure about that I do. Remember the story where in the Bible….Jesus got quite angry at people for turning his Father’s house into a money changing circus. I remember one time when I was reluctant to go into a very “circus-like” church service, and I kept wondering around the hallway thinking, why are there people in there? It looks like an absolute clown show….. you had pre-recorded songs…paid actors / singers (who incidentally didn’t even go to the actual church, they were paid to be there), nothing spontaneous..and I saw nothing but lights and flashing and beats and laser lights beaming out into the hallway which reminded me of being a teen.

One time as a teen a friend wanted to go to this dance club in the 80’s up in North County St. Louis….and I walked in with him (this was not my thing BTW), and all I saw was the same image…lights…sounds..dark silhouettes of people….and loud music …the exact same thing…so the church had reproduced an annoying copy of a worldly scene.. It disgusted me beyond words….and I thought, is there anything real any longer with this religion? Is this what we have come to? Where is the spontaneity, the holiness…the reverence…and then I recalled what a former friend of mine said about this same church. This friend was a non church goer…and he called this church a monstrosity nuisance. That was the reputation of this church in the community….which, the bible also warns about.

So I am left with…what is real? Is everything a clown show? Is everything a show? A performance? This is concerning to me. What is real??
